The Florida Consortium of Metropolitan Research Universities is creating bold new opportunities for students and employers in Florida’s largest urban areas.
The campus community is invited on Dec. 3 to the Live Oak Event Center to learn more about the scope and impact of this special partnership involving UCF, Florida International University, and the University of South Florida. The free event begins with a breakfast reception at 8 a.m. followed by the formal program from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Attendees are asked to pre-register.
The event will feature updates from Consortium Executive Director Michael Preston, UCF leaders, and special guests on how the consortium is advancing innovation, student success, and talent development in the Orlando, Tampa Bay, and Miami regions. Together, the consortium serves nearly half of the students in the State University System of Florida, including 57 percent of the underrepresented students and 61 percent of the state college transfers.
The consortium originated in 2014 with operational support from the Helios Education Foundation. The partnership is a model for higher education on how major public universities in the same state can collaborate for greater student success and impact in meeting workforce needs. Leaders of UCF, FIU, and USF recently agreed to extend their partnership through 2023.
