As detailed in my fall welcome email to faculty, new state legislation alters Florida’s civil rights law that prohibits discrimination, including at state universities. Please see the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning website for answers to frequently asked questions about the new law and how it affects our teaching at UCF. The website also offers guidance for facilitating civil dialogue in class, particularly with controversial subjects.
Our university is focused on building a culture of inclusive excellence and compassion. All courses must be accessible and usable for every student, including those with known disabilities. This is a legal requirement, and it is also the right thing to do.
We have excellent resources available to support you in achieving these priorities. If you have questions about how to make your course accessible to all learners, please work with the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, the Center for Distributed Learning and Student Accessibility Services.
I hope this information is beneficial. Thank you for all you do to make UCF a special place to learn and grow for our students and our community.
