I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Dr. Ross Wolf as associate provost for UCF Downtown, effective February 18.
Dr. Wolf has served admirably as UCF Downtown’s interim assistant provost since April 2019, which included a key role in opening the campus in fall 2019. His career at UCF began in 1991, and his previous leadership roles include being an associate dean in the College of Community Innovation and Education and the former College of Health and Public Affairs.
Dr. Wolf is also a tenured professor in UCF’s Department of Criminal justice whose scholarship includes numerous books, grants and publications focusing on volunteer policing and police administration. His distinguished career includes currently serving on the International Association of Chiefs of Police Police Administration Committee and as an executive board member of the International Managers of Police Academy and College Training (IMPACT) Section. He is also a visiting fellow at the Institute for Public Safety, Crime, and Justice at the University of Northampton in the United Kingdom.
As associate provost for UCF Downtown, Dr. Wolf will continue to oversee campus academics and operations, partnerships, initiatives and community relations for a campus that serves more than 7,500 students. He will lead UCF’s partnerships with Valencia College Downtown and community stakeholders while collaborating with UCF academic leaders to advance a high-quality and holistic academic experience for students of all backgrounds.
Fostering a robust academic environment that promotes student success, faculty excellence, innovation and community engagement at UCF Downtown is a key to UCF becoming a world-leading public metropolitan research university, and I am confident Dr. Wolf is the right leader for this effort.
I am grateful to the work of the search committee – led by Dr. Jana Jasinski, vice provost for Faculty Excellence – for its valuable efforts to identify and evaluate an outstanding leader for UCF Downtown.
Please join me in wishing Dr. Wolf much success in his new role.
