Biography
Dr. Cynthia Mejia is the dean of the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management, a global and national leader in hospitality and tourism education.
She received her Ph.D. in hospitality administration from Texas Tech University, a master’s degree in hospitality management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. In addition, Mejia is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in New York.
Mejia has over 20 years of industry experience in food and beverage and hotel operations management, primarily working for luxury brands both in the United States and Singapore. Her publications and areas of research include: human resource management, cross-cultural organizational management, technology acceptance in hospitality organizations, green facilities management, empathy across the services industries and hospitality education.
A professor in the Department of Foodservice and Lodging Management, she has taught at Rosen since 2013, focusing on food supply chain management, facilities management, techniques of food preparation and and culture and cuisine.
