Prior to returning to UCF, Hayes spent seven years at East Carolina University, where he was the dean of the College of Education starting in 2015. He also served as the university’s interim provost and senior vice chancellor for Academic Affairs for three years beginning in 2019.
He is a Mildred W. Coyle Endowed Professor and Eminent Scholar, as well as an American Counseling Association fellow.
