Biography

I am a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the University of Central Florida. I currently serve as the dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF). I graduated with a Diploma from the National Technical University of Athens in 1981, and a Masters and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Connecticut (UConn) in 1983 and 1986, all in Electrical Engineering. I joined the University of Central Florida in December 1986.

My research interests span various paradigms and applications of Machine Learning, like Artificial Neural Networks, Decision Trees, Kernel-Based Methods, Evolutionary Computation, and Data Mining among other. In short I am interested in algorithms that perform intelligently (effectively and efficiently) challenging tasks.
