Title:
University Physical Security Manager | Department of Security
Years at UCF:
7
What she does for UCF:
I oversee and manage maintenance for all access-control doors and security cameras on the main campus and at Lake Nona, coordinating with vendors and other UCF departments as needed for repairs and upgrades. I’m always looking for ways to improve physical security by identifying gaps and exploring potential solutions. I also support emergencies, incidents, and campus events.

1. What made you want to call UCF home?
UCF has always felt like a place where people are given the opportunity to grow. I started my career here and quickly found a strong sense of community, and over the years I’ve been fortunate to grow not only professionally but also as a student while earning my degree. Being part of an institution that invests in people and allows you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others is what has truly made UCF feel like home to me.
2. What’s one small thing about UCF that still makes you smile?
My colleagues in the Department of Security make me smile every day. I’m privileged to work with fantastic people who truly care about making UCF a safer place for students, faculty, and staff. It’s a great community, and I’m honored to be part of it.
3. What’s one thing you wish more people would know about the work you do?
I wish more people knew how complex our work can be. Many tasks require coordination with multiple departments and vendors to reach a solution. There’s a great deal that happens behind the scenes that isn’t visible from outside the department, but we’re always working diligently to support a safe and enjoyable campus environment.
4. Outside of work, what’s something that brings you joy or helps you recharge?
Spending quality time with my husband and our two dogs—usually curled up on the couch reading a good book or playing video games—is my favorite way to recharge. A close second is diving into whatever hobby has captured my interest for the week; there are just so many good ones to choose from!
5. What’s one piece of advice you have for students, faculty, and staff to stay safe on campus?
The best advice I can give is to stay aware of your surroundings and take building security seriously. If you’re in a secure area that requires card access, don’t let anyone follow behind you, and never prop doors open. Always keep doors closed and secure.

1. What made you want to call UCF home?
When deciding to become a police officer, I researched several agencies. UCF officers consistently appeared happier and genuinely enjoyed their work, something not every agency can say. The atmosphere and camaraderie at UCF are unparalleled.
2. What’s one small thing about UCF that still makes you smile?
My colleagues. I work with truly amazing people, and it is always a pleasure to come to work. Everyone here tends to be in a positive mood, and that energy is contagious.
3. What’s one thing you wish more people would know about the work you do?
I wish more people understood that policing at UCF is not the same as what they often see on the news. Our officers are genuinely happy to help and enjoy interacting with community members.
4. Outside of work, what’s something that brings you joy or helps you recharge?
As an avid fisherman and hunter, being outdoors and on the water is my happy place. I also enjoy traveling as a way to reset.
5. What’s one piece of advice you have for students, faculty, and staff to stay safe on campus?
Most incidents on campus are crimes of opportunity, so avoid making yourself an easy target. Lock your vehicle and home doors and secure your bike or scooter with a heavy-duty lock. Never leave your property unattended, even for a second. Also, avoid sharing personal information or photos with people you meet online.
